What makes this one different
Why a thigh guard set has two different pads
Almost every thigh guard sold is a single pad. A set has two, and they protect completely different things.
The outer thigh guard goes on your front leg — the left thigh for a right-handed batter. That is the leg exposed when you play across the line, when a delivery follows you, and when the ball rears off a length. It takes the direct hits, and it is the pad everyone knows about.
The inner thigh guard goes on the inside of the back leg. It is smaller, and it protects a smaller target: the inside of the thigh, where a ball that squeezes between bat and pad ends up. Those blows are less frequent but they hurt more, because the inner thigh has no muscle covering to absorb them.
Most players buy an outer guard, take one inside edge into the inner thigh, and buy the inner guard the following week. Selling them as a set is simply the honest way to do it.
Both pads are high density foam with adjustable elasticated straps, worn under the trousers so nothing catches when you run. Available in Mens and Youth, and configured for right or left handed batters — the two are mirror images, and it matters.

What is the difference between an outer and inner thigh guard? +
The outer thigh guard protects the front leg, which is the left thigh for a right-handed batter. That is the leg exposed when you play across the line and when the ball rears off a length, and it takes most direct hits. The inner thigh guard is smaller and protects the inside of the back leg, where a ball squeezing between bat and pad ends up. Those blows are rarer but hurt more, because the inner thigh has no muscle covering. This is a set with both.
Do I need right hand or left hand thigh guards? +
Yes, order the hand you bat with. Thigh guards are handed because the front leg differs. For a right-handed batter the front leg is the left, so the outer guard is shaped and strapped for the left thigh. For a left-handed batter it is the mirror image. Ordering the wrong hand puts the larger pad on the leg that is least exposed.
What size thigh guard should I buy? +
Two sizes: Mens and Youth. Youth suits players up to around 5 feet 4 inches, Mens above that. The outer guard should cover from just above the knee to the top of the thigh without riding up when you crouch into your stance. If it slides down during an over, it is too big.
Are thigh guards worn under or over the trousers? +
Under. Thigh guards go directly against the leg or over a base layer, with the trousers over the top. Worn outside they catch on the bat, shift during a shot and look wrong. The elasticated straps are designed to sit flat under clothing.
Do I need a thigh guard for tennis ball cricket? +
Generally no. Thigh guards are built for leather ball cricket, where a 156g ball at pace does real damage to an unprotected thigh. For hard tennis ball cricket most players go without, though some wear an outer guard in competitive hard tennis tournaments.
How do I look after a thigh guard? +
Air it after every session rather than sealing it into a kit bag, because trapped sweat breaks down the foam and causes the smell. Wipe the outer with a damp cloth. Never machine wash it, as washing waterlogs the foam and it never recovers its shape. Dry at room temperature away from direct heat.

Why is this Rs 1,699 when the MRP is Rs 2,999? +
Because you are buying from the manufacturer. Protective equipment normally passes through a distributor, a wholesaler and a retailer before it reaches a player, each adding margin. We removed all three. The set is unchanged, only the number of hands it passes through on the way to you.
