Ciel Sports is a cricket bat manufacturer in Meerut, India — the city that produces roughly 70% of the world's cricket bats. Every bat we sell is graded, pressed, shaped and finished in our own workshop, then shipped directly to the player, anywhere from New Jersey to the Bay Area.
American cricket is growing faster than anywhere on earth, but most bats sold here are Kashmir willow, and the genuine English willow that does arrive carries an import markup on top of a brand markup. Buying from the workshop removes both. The willow, the pressing and the craftsmanship are identical — only the supply chain is shorter.
Every bat is made to order: your player profile, your exact weight, your handle shape, your size and your name laser-engraved on the blade — at no extra charge.
We make a maximum of forty bats a day. Factories that turn out three thousand cannot give every bat the same attention — they choose a handful to lavish care on and the rest go out as they are. Choosing a bat for American conditions
US club cricket is played on an unusually wide mix of surfaces — matting over concrete, matting over turf, drop-in pitches and full turf squares. That variety should influence what you order.
Profile
Mid swell for versatility
If you play across matting and turf in the same season, a mid swell is the safest choice — it keeps a usable sweet spot whether the ball skids low off matting or bounces truer off turf. Specialise only if you play one surface exclusively.
Durability
Matting is hard on willow
Matting over concrete is significantly more abrasive than turf and shortens bat life. A slightly lower grain count with more robust willow — Striker or Inferno — often outlasts a premium bat on these surfaces, and we will say so honestly.

With league seasons short and travel long, you cannot lose three weekends to knocking in. Every bat ships knocked in with a toe guard fitted, so you need only a light top-up before your first match.

How long does delivery take?
Your bat is built in 5 days, which includes crafting, oiling, knocking in and fitting a toe guard. Tracked transit then takes 6-7 days, so the total is 11-12 days from confirming your specification to the bat arriving. We send photographs of the finished bat and a tracking number before it ships.
Why are Meerut-made bats cheaper than the bats in local shops?
Roughly 70 percent of the world's cricket bats are made in Meerut, India, including many sold under well-known brand names. Those bats pass through a brand, an exporter, an importer and a retailer, each adding margin before reaching the shelf. Buying direct from the workshop removes those layers. The willow, the pressing and the craftsmanship are unchanged; only the supply chain is shorter.
Are the bats customised for each player?
Yes, and there is no extra charge. Every English willow bat is built to order with your choice of player profile, exact weight, handle shape, size and your name laser engraved on the blade. We make a maximum of forty bats a day precisely so that every one can be built this way.
Do the bats arrive ready to play?
Every bat is knocked in and fitted with a protective toe guard before dispatch, and oiled during the build. That means far less preparation at your end, though we always recommend a further period of gentle mallet work and some throwdowns with an older ball before facing a hard new ball in a match.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every English willow bat carries a 12-month handle warranty, which applies in the USA exactly as it does in India. If something goes wrong you message the founders directly on WhatsApp rather than dealing with a retailer or a support queue.
Is English willow worth it for American club cricket?
If you play with a hard leather ball on turf or matting, yes. English willow is lighter and more elastic than Kashmir willow, which means faster bat speed and a genuinely larger sweet spot. If you play mostly tennis-ball or tape-ball cricket, Kashmir willow or a dedicated tennis-ball bat is the smarter buy, and we make both.
Do you ship to all 50 states?
Yes, with tracked delivery to any US address including Alaska and Hawaii. Transit is typically six to seven days after the five-day build, so around eleven to twelve days in total. Shipping is a flat $44 per bat.
