Custom English Willow Cricket Bat Builder
Made to order in Meerut
Build Your Own English Willow BatNine choices. One bat. Only the willow costs extra.
Every bat we make is built after you order it, not picked off a shelf. Choose the grade, the profile, the handle, the toe, the size and the weight — then tell us how you want it prepared. Everything except the preparation service is included in the price of the bat.
Your name
So Akshat or Utkarsh know who they're talking to when your specification lands on WhatsApp.
Up to 18 characters. Engraved into the willow, not a sticker.
Choose your willow grade
This is the only choice that changes the price. Everything below is included. Grade describes the cleft — how mature it was and how straight the grain runs. It never describes the workmanship, which is identical across all nine: eight hydraulic press stages, Sarawak cane handle, reinforced toe guard, 12-month warranty.
Choose your player profile
Where the mass sits in the blade, and therefore where your sweet spot is. Choose on how you actually score runs — not on which player you admire.
Player names describe a style of profile for reference only. Ciel Sports is not affiliated with or endorsed by any player named.
Choose your handle shape
All three are multi-piece Sarawak cane. The shape changes how the bat sits in your bottom hand and how much the face wants to rotate through a shot.
Choose your toe shape
Every bat leaves us with a reinforced toe guard fitted. The shape underneath it is yours to choose.
Choose your size
Pick by height rather than age. Between two sizes, take the smaller one — a bat you can control beats a bat that reaches further.
Choose your weight
Select a grade first and we'll show the range that grade presses to. We'll confirm on WhatsApp whether your exact weight is achievable in the profile you've chosen — willow is a natural material, and a cleft either presses to a weight or it doesn't.
Oiling and knocking in
Every new bat needs knocking in, at every price. Ours need less than most because of the eight press stages — but skipping it is still the single most common way a new bat is destroyed. This is the only paid option on the page.
Anti-scuff sheet
A clear 3M film across the face. A hard ball on dry willow lifts the surface fibres, and once the surface breaks, moisture gets in and the crack runs deeper with every blow. A sheet holds those fibres together. Included free if you want it.
Handle counterbalance
A small weight fitted into the top of the handle. It doesn't make the bat lighter — it moves the balance point up toward your hands, so the bat feels lighter and picks up more easily. It's how you get a big profile without the pickup that normally comes with it. Free.

How to choose every part of a custom cricket bat
A custom English willow bat is six decisions. Only one of them changes the price. The rest decide whether the bat actually suits how you play — and profile, the one most buyers skip, changes how a bat plays more than the grade does.
Profile: where your sweet spot sits
Profile is where the mass sits along the blade. It decides where the sweet spot is — and different shots meet the ball at different heights. A straight drive makes contact around the middle; a pull, lower; a ball hit late and low, lower still. If your sweet spot is in the wrong place for how you score, your best shots are the ones you hit least cleanly.
Virat Kohli style
Duckbill
Mid-blade sweet spot
Mass sits high in the blade and tapers to a thin toe, putting the sweet spot in the middle. It suits players who score straight and drive through the line, and it picks up light.
Rohit Sharma style
Mid-to-low swell
Our most chosen profile
The swell sits lower, meeting the ball where a pull, a cut or a flick makes contact. If you cannot say where you score most, choose this — it sits between the extremes and forgives indecision.
MS Dhoni style
Bottom heavy
Sweet spot toward the toe
Mass carried low, for balls hit late and low and for surfaces where the ball skids on. A specialist choice for finishers and low-bounce pitches.
Andre Russell style
Full profile
No weak zone on the face
Full mass from shoulder to toe with thick edges and minimal concaving. A wider effective zone, at the cost of a heavier pickup.
Sachin Tendulkar style
Traditional full
Balanced · every condition
Even mass along a continuous spine. It behaves the same on every surface, which makes it the choice for players moving between grounds and conditions.
The Inferno and Apex Limited are built in one fixed full profile with no concaving, so they skip this choice. Player names describe a style of profile for reference only; Ciel Sports is not affiliated with or endorsed by any player named. Read the full sweet spot guide.
Handle shape: how the face behaves in your hands
All three are multi-piece Sarawak cane with rubber between the layers to damp vibration. What changes is the cross-section — which decides how much the blade wants to rotate as you swing.
Round
Face rotates freely
The traditional shape. Lets the blade turn in the hands, which suits wristy players who work the ball square of the wicket.
Oval
Holds the face square
Resists rotation and keeps the face aligned through the shot. Suits players who bat straight and want control over the face.
Semi-oval
The middle ground
Some rotational control without locking the face. What most club cricketers get on with, and the safe choice if you are unsure.
Toe shape: the end that meets the ground
Every bat ships with a reinforced toe guard fitted. The shape beneath it is yours to choose, and it matters more than it looks: the toe is the point furthest from your hands, so a little willow there has an outsized effect on pickup.
Semi-round
The traditional toe
Rounded corners on a flat base. Even protection, and the most forgiving on a hard, abrasive ground.
Round
Lifts the balance point
A full curve across the base. It takes a little willow off the corners — the point furthest from your hands, where mass costs most in pickup.
Squared
Maximum willow at the toe
Fuller and flatter at the base. Keeps the most willow low in the blade, which suits bottom-heavy and full profiles.
Size: by height, not age
| Size | Height | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Size 5 | 4ft 6in – 4ft 9in | 9–11 |
| Size 6 | 4ft 9in – 5ft 1in | 11–13 |
| Harrow | 5ft 1in – 5ft 5in | 13–15, and adults under 5ft 5in |
| Short Handle | 5ft 5in – 6ft 2in | Most adults |
| Long Blade | 5ft 7in – 6ft | Adults wanting more blade |
| Long Handle | 6ft 2in and over | Tall adults |
| Long Blade Long Handle | 6ft 2in and over | Tall adults wanting both |
Stand the bat beside your leg — the top of the handle should reach your hip. Between two sizes, take the smaller: a bat you can control beats a bat that reaches further. Harrow is a genuine adult size for anyone under about 5ft 5in, not only a junior one.
Willow grade: the only thing that changes the price
Grade describes the cleft — how straight the fibre runs and how even its density is from toe to shoulder. It never describes the workmanship, which is identical across all nine: eight hydraulic press stages, cane handle, fitted toe guard and a 12-month handle warranty.
| Bat | Grade | Grains | Edges | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Surge | Entry | 4–5 | 38–40mm | ₹7,999 |
| Torrent | Development | 5–7 | 39–41mm | ₹12,999 |
| Vortex | Club | 5–7 | 40–42mm | ₹16,999 |
| Striker | Grade 1 | 6–7 | 40–42mm | ₹20,999 |
| Inferno | Grade 1 · no concaving | 6–7 | 42mm+ | ₹23,999 |
| Dominator | Grade 1+ | 7–9 | 40–42mm | ₹36,999 |
| Apex Limited | Grade 1+ · no concaving | 8–10 | 42mm+ | ₹42,999 |
| Titan Pro | Player Grade | 8–12 | 40–42mm | ₹49,999 |
| Reserve Edition | Ultra premium | 9–15 | 41–43mm | ₹59,999 |
Above the Vortex, blade dimensions stop growing — so from there upward you are buying a finer cleft, not a bigger bat. Buy the grade your cricket justifies, then spend your attention on the profile.
Custom cricket bats, shipped worldwide
We build and ship to more than 50 countries. Players in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UAE and South Africa order through exactly the same builder, and the process does not change.
Prices are shown in Indian rupees. Where your country charges import duty or local taxes, those are set by your customs authority rather than by us. Message us with your country and we will quote delivery before anything is made.
Why build it rather than buy it off a shelf
A shelf bat was shaped months ago to decisions someone else made. It can be an excellent bat and still have been built for another player's game. Ours is shaped after you order it — which is also why the specifications cost nothing: the bat is being shaped regardless, so letting you decide how costs us nothing extra.
What customisation cannot do is rescue a wrong size or weight. Those come first, and everything else is refinement. Our guide to custom bats covers what it can and cannot fix.
More questions about custom cricket bats
Can I order a custom cricket bat from outside India? +
Yes. We build and ship custom English willow bats to more than 50 countries, including the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UAE and South Africa. The specification process is identical, and we quote shipping to your country on WhatsApp before anything is built. International transit is typically eight to fourteen days after the five-day build.
How much does a custom cricket bat cost? +
From ₹7,999 to ₹59,999, set entirely by the willow grade. Every specification on this page is included at no extra charge. The only optional paid addition is the ₹1,000 preparation service.
What is the best profile for a custom cricket bat? +
The one that puts the sweet spot where you make contact most. Straight drivers suit a duckbill; players who score square suit a mid-to-low swell; late and low hitters suit bottom heavy. If you cannot answer where you score most, choose mid-to-low swell - it sits between the extremes.
Can I get my name engraved on a cricket bat? +
Yes, free, up to 18 characters. It is laser engraved into the willow on the back of the blade rather than applied as a sticker, so it does not wear off. Type your name into step one of the builder to preview it.
Should I choose a round, oval or semi-oval handle? +
Round lets the face rotate freely and suits wristy players. Oval resists rotation and holds the face square, suiting players who bat straight. Semi-oval sits between the two, and it is what most club cricketers choose.
Which toe shape should I choose? +
Semi-round is the traditional toe and the most forgiving on abrasive grounds. Round takes a little willow off the corners, the point furthest from your hands, which lifts the balance point. Squared keeps maximum willow at the toe and suits bottom-heavy and full profiles.
Is a custom cricket bat better than an off-the-shelf bat? +
Better matched rather than better made. A bat from a shelf can be excellent and still have been shaped for someone else's game. A custom bat is shaped around where you score, in your size and weight, which matters most for players who already know how they bat.
Do you make custom cricket bats for juniors? +
Yes, from Size 5 upward in most grades. Size by height rather than age, and never buy a size up to grow into - a bat that is too big builds technique habits that take seasons to undo. The Inferno and Apex Limited are adult only, at 1220g minimum.
