Buying direct

Buy English willow cricket bats in Australia, from the people who make them.

Ciel Sports is a cricket bat manufacturer in Meerut, India — the city that produces roughly 70% of the world's cricket bats, including a great many that reach Australian shelves under other names. Every bat we sell is graded, pressed, shaped and finished in our own workshop, then shipped directly to the player.

That matters for one simple reason. A bat made in Meerut and sold in Australia normally passes through a brand, an exporter, an importer and a retailer, each adding margin along the way. Buying direct removes all of them. The willow is the same, the pressing is the same, the craftsmanship is the same — only the supply chain is shorter.

Whether you are chasing runs in premier grade, turning out for a club second XI on a Saturday, or buying a junior their first proper English willow bat, the whole range is here in Australian dollars, from $121 to $906 AUD.

Every bat is made to order: your player profile, your exact weight, your handle shape, your size and your name laser-engraved on the blade — at no extra charge. Tracked shipping to Australia is a flat AUD $63 per bat — a fraction of the markup you avoid. And when you message us, Akshat or Utkarsh answer personally, not a support queue.

Built for your wickets

Choosing a bat for Australian conditions

Australian wickets are, on the whole, harder and truer with more consistent bounce than most cricket played anywhere else. That changes where the ball meets the bat — and it should change the bat you order.

Profile

Mid to mid-high swell

More bounce means more contact higher on the blade. A mid to slightly higher swell puts the sweet spot where the ball actually arrives, and helps square-of-the-wicket play on true surfaces. Power hitters in T20 grades may still prefer mid-low.

Pickup

Lighter than you think

Hard, quick wickets reward bat speed and late adjustment far more than dead weight. Most Australian club batters are better served by a well-balanced 1,180–1,220g bat than by the heaviest one they can lift.

Durability

Grains and preparation

Abrasive Australian outfields and hard new balls are demanding on willow. 6–9 grains is the practical sweet spot for a full summer, and every bat leaves us knocked in with a toe guard fitted.

Tell us your grade, your height, the weight you currently play with and where you score most of your runs. We will recommend the profile and pickup that suit your cricket — and we will say so honestly if a less expensive bat is the better buy for you.

The workshop

See where your bat is made

Most cricket brands cannot show you a factory, because they do not have one. This is ours in Meerut — cleft grading, 8-stage hydraulic pressing, hand shaping and finishing. Every bat that reaches Australia starts here.

Before you order

Australian buyers ask us

Can I buy direct from the manufacturer in Australia?
Yes. We ship factory-direct from Meerut to every state and territory. The range runs from AUD $121 for the Surge to AUD $906 for the Reserve Edition, plus a flat AUD $63 tracked shipping. Because you buy from the workshop rather than through a distributor and retailer, the same grade of English willow costs considerably less than Australian retail even with delivery added.
How long does delivery take?
Your bat is built in 5 days — crafting, oiling, knocking in and fitting a toe guard — then tracked transit takes 6–7 days. That is 11–12 days total from confirming your spec to the bat in your hands. Shipping is a flat AUD $63. We send photos of the finished bat and a tracking number before it ships.
Why are Meerut-made bats cheaper than the ones in the shop?
Around 70% of the world's cricket bats are made in Meerut, including many sold in Australia under well-known names. Those bats pass through a brand, an exporter, an importer and a retailer, each taking a margin before the bat reaches the shelf. Buying direct removes those layers — the willow, the pressing and the craftsmanship are unchanged.
Which bat suits Australian wickets?
Australian pitches are generally harder and bouncier, so contact is often higher on the blade. A mid to mid-high swell suits most Australian batters, putting the sweet spot where the ball arrives and keeping pickup quick for square play. T20-focused power hitters may prefer mid-low. Tell us your grade and scoring areas and we will recommend the right profile at no extra charge.
Are the bats knocked in and ready for round one?
Every bat is knocked in and fitted with a toe guard before dispatch, and oiled during the build. That is far less work at your end — though we still recommend some gentle mallet work and throwdowns with an older ball before facing a hard new ball in a match.
Can I customise the bat?
Yes, at no extra cost. Choose from five player profiles, three handle shapes, your size, your exact weight, and have your name laser-engraved. Every bat is made after you order it.
What about warranty and after-sales from overseas?
Every English willow bat carries a 12-month handle warranty that applies in Australia exactly as it does in India. If anything goes wrong you message the founders directly on WhatsApp — not a retailer, not a ticket queue. We also advise on repairs, and can talk you through a fix on video if shipping a bat back is not practical.
