Every Ciel Sports bat is pressed through eight stages of hydraulic pressing — far beyond the industry-standard two to four — which conditions the willow more evenly, produces a larger sweet spot, and reduces the knocking-in you need to do at home. But every English willow bat still needs knocking in before facing a hard ball: 4–6 hours of mallet work over two to three weeks, building gradually, with special attention to the edges. Skipping it is the single most common cause of premature cracking.
