Product Description

Player Edition: The Ultimate Professional Kashmir Willow Bat

Expertly Crafted for Performance. Built for Power. Made in Meerut.

The Player Edition is more than just a cricket bat; it is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Specifically designed for club cricketers and opening batsmen who demand the performance of English Willow but prefer the durability of top-grade Kashmir Willow. This bat is hand-selected from the finest 1% of Kashmir Willow clefts.

Why the Player Edition Dominates:

  • Hand-Selected Grade 1 Kashmir Willow: Every cleft is inspected for grain straightness and moisture content. This is "Indian-nurtured" willow at its peak.

  • Massive 40-43mm Edges: We’ve kept the edges thick to ensure that even off-center hits clear the boundary.

  • 6-Stage Hard Pressing: Unlike factory-line bats, our Player Edition undergoes a specialized 6-stage pressing process. This maximizes the "ping" and ensures the bat is ready for high-speed leather balls.

  • The "Weightless" Pickup: Even at a weight range of 1150–1250g, we carve the spine to ensure a mid-to-high sweet spot, giving you a pickup that feels 50g lighter.

  • Singapore Cane Handle: Equipped with a premium multi-piece cane handle for maximum shock absorption, allowing you to play powerful drives without hand vibration.

Customization & Profile:

  • Toe Guard: Pre-fitted pro-grade toe guard to prevent moisture damage.
  • Finish: Premium laser engraving (No cheap stickers that peel off).
  • Profile: Full-profile with minimal concaving for a massive sweet spot.

Manufacturer's Insight: Most Kashmir Willow bats feel "dead" after a few months. Because we use a specialized seasoning process in our Meerut facility, the Player Edition maintains its "pop" much longer than standard market bats.

Overview

The best Kashmir willow cricket bat for leather ball cricket

The Player Edition is our top-grade Kashmir willow bat, built for leather ball cricket. It carries 40–43mm edges, weighs 1150–1250g, runs a medium-to-high spine, and is fitted with a multi-piece Singapore cane handle and a premium rubber grip weighing just 34g. Every bat is hard pressed through eight hydraulic stages in our own Meerut facility.

A word on what "Player Grade" means. This is the top grade of Kashmir willow cleft — straight, tightly spaced grain, correct moisture content, high fibre density. Other sellers market the same grade as "Signature Willow" or "Nurtured Willow" and price it at ₹12,000 and above. We call it what it is and sell it at ₹5,999, because we grade, press and shape it ourselves and ship it direct to you. The name on the sticker is not what makes a bat expensive; the supply chain is.

Every Player Edition is built to your specification at no extra charge. We call you within 24 hours of your order to set the profile, the balance, the weight, the handle shape and the toe shape, and to take the name you want laser engraved on the blade. Nothing here is pulled off a shelf.

The straight answer first

Is the Player Edition the right bat for you?

We make English willow and Kashmir willow, and we would rather point you at the correct one than the more expensive one.

Buy the Player Edition if

  • You play regular leather ball cricket — club, school, academy or league
  • You want a bat that stands up to hard grounds and heavy use through a full season
  • Your budget is under ₹6,000 and you want the most bat available inside it
  • You want the profile, weight, balance and engraving set to your game at no extra cost
  • You would rather pay ₹500 now and the rest on delivery than prepay in full

Kashmir willow is denser than English willow and far more forgiving of abuse. On rough club grounds it often outlasts an English willow bat costing twice as much.

Buy something else if

  • You want maximum rebound and a softer pickup. English willow does that better — our Surge starts at ₹7,999.
  • You play tennis ball or hard tennis cricket. This is a leather ball bat. Our hard tennis range is built for that game at ₹3,499.
  • You won't knock it in. Four to six hours is not optional, whatever the willow.
  • You need it tomorrow. Every bat is built to your spec after you order, not picked off a shelf.

Not sure between Kashmir and English willow? Message Akshat or Utkarsh on WhatsApp. They will ask what you play and tell you honestly.

What ₹5,999 actually buys you

I

The top grade of Kashmir willow, under its real name

Every Player Edition starts with a hand-selected top-grade cleft, inspected at our Meerut facility for grain straightness, fibre density and moisture content. This is the same willow other sellers rebrand as "Signature" or "Nurtured" and price above ₹12,000. The grade is genuine; the markup is not. We sell it at ₹5,999 because there is no distributor, wholesaler or retailer between our bench and your hands.

PlayerGrade cleft
II

40–43mm edges — a genuinely large hitting area

Edge thickness decides what happens when you don't middle it. A thinner edge meets a rapidly narrowing blade and the ball dies in the hands; at 40–43mm there is substantially more willow behind that same contact, so shots off the toe or high on the blade still carry. It is the most visible specification on any bat, and the one most often cut to hit a price.

40–43mmEdges
III

Eight hydraulic press stages — the same process as our English willow bats

Pressing compresses the surface fibres into a harder, more responsive skin. Factory-line Kashmir willow bats are typically pressed once or twice, because pressing takes time and time costs money. The Player Edition goes through eight separate hydraulic stages with pressure raised progressively across face, edges and toe — identical to the process on our ₹59,999 Reserve Edition. It is why this bat holds its ping through a season rather than deadening after a few months.

8Press stages
IV

A spine carved for pickup, not just for weight

At 1150–1250g the Player Edition sits in the right band for leather ball cricket. Where the mass sits matters as much as how much there is: the spine is carved to hold a medium-to-high sweet spot and move weight away from the shoulders, so the bat comes through the line more easily than the number on the scale suggests. Long innings tire you less, and stroke play feels more natural.

1150–1250gWeight band
V

Singapore cane handle and a 34g grip

The multi-piece Singapore cane handle is the same grade we fit to our English willow bats. Cane flexes under impact and returns to shape rather than transmitting shock into the hands, which is what keeps them comfortable through a long innings and against genuine pace. The grip is premium rubber weighing 34g — light enough not to disturb the balance we've built into the blade.

34gRubber grip
VI

Laser engraving, premium stickers and a fitted toe guard

Your name laser engraved into the willow, premium stickers, and a professional toe guard fitted before dispatch to protect against moisture and toe damage — the point where most bats fail first. The bat is hard pressed and ships ready for its final preparation: four to six hours of knocking in before you face a new leather ball.

Choose your playing style

Five player profiles — which shape is right for you?

Each profile has a different spine shape, sweet spot position and weight distribution. Choose the one that matches how you actually bat, not the one named after your favourite player.

I

Virat Kohli Profile — Duckbill

High spine tapering quickly — concentrated mid-blade sweet spot

A duckbill spine sits high and thick at the top, then tapers into a flatter toe. That concentrates mass through the mid-blade and produces a precise sweet spot for the cover drive, the straight drive and the flick off the pads. Less weight in the toe means a lighter pickup.

Best suited for: Technically correct players who bat on timing. Front-foot drivers and square cutters, and anyone who wants a precise, balanced bat on bouncy pitches.

ToeFlat, lighter
PickupLight, balanced
DuckbillProfile 01
II

Rohit Sharma Profile — Mid-to-Low Swell

Mid-to-low swell — the six-hitting sweet spot

The swell sits lower in the blade, which suits players who generate power from the wrists and hit through the line. Built for aggressive stroke play, boundary hitting, and the pull and hook. This is the profile most of our customers choose.

Best suited for: Openers and aggressive batsmen who hit sixes. Players who love the pull, hook and sweep, and anyone who wants a bat that punishes a loose delivery.

ToeRounded, fuller
PickupSlightly heavier
Mid-to-LowProfile 02
III

MS Dhoni Profile — Bottom-Heavy

Bottom-heavy spine — helicopter shot and death-over finishing

Weight is concentrated toward the toe, which generates power from the lower blade. That is what makes the helicopter shot and wide-arc hitting possible, and it lets you create pace from the wrists and the back foot on late, unorthodox strokes.

Best suited for: Finishers and lower-order batsmen who bat under pressure. Helicopter-shot players and anyone who needs extra toe power for wide-arc hitting.

SpineBottom-heavy

Bottom-HeavyProfile 03
IV

Andre Russell Profile — Full Profile

Full thick profile — maximum mass, no weak zones

Full profile from shoulder to toe with thick edges and no tapering. Maximum willow mass is kept throughout, so there is no weak zone anywhere on the face and every contact transfers as much energy as the blade can give.

Best suited for: Power hitters and T20 specialists. Lower-order batsmen who need to clear the rope quickly, and anyone who wants the largest possible hitting surface.

Sachin Tendulkar Profile — Traditional Full

Classical full profile — uniform weight, all conditions

A continuous spine running from handle to toe with uniform weight distribution. The result is a bat that behaves the same way in every condition and against every type of bowling — equally at home on the front foot and the back, in power and in finesse.

Best suited for: All-round batsmen who switch between power and placement. Players who bat in all conditions, and beginners who want a profile that suits most styles.

Before your first match

Preparing your Player Edition

The bat ships hard pressed, so the eight press stages have done most of the conditioning. What's left is four to six hours of your time — and skipping it is the most common reason any bat fails early.

StepWhat to doTime
1 · OilOne or two light coats of raw linseed oil on the face, edges and toe. Wipe off excess. Keep oil off the splice and handle.24 hrs between coats
2 · Edges and toeLight mallet taps first, rounding the edges gradually so they can absorb an off-centre hit.1–2 hrs
3 · The faceWork outward from the middle, building force slowly. Never strike the splice, shoulders or back of the blade.2–3 hrs
4 · Old-ball throw-downs30–60 minutes with a used leather ball before facing a new one. Deep seam marks mean more mallet work.1 session
5 · OngoingRe-oil lightly every 8–10 innings. Store upright at room temperature — never a car boot, never against a radiator.Season-long

Would rather not do it yourself? Add the preparation service for ₹500 at checkout and we will oil, knock in and fit fibre tape before the bat is dispatched. Our full knocking-in guide covers the process step by step.

Questions players ask

Player Edition Kashmir willow bat — frequently asked questions

Is the Player Edition good for leather ball cricket? +

Yes, it is built and pressed specifically for it. The 8-stage hydraulic pressing, the Player Grade cleft and the 40 to 43mm edges are all specified for leather ball impact at match level, and it is used by club cricketers across India and internationally in competitive cricket. It is not suitable for tennis ball or soft ball cricket, which needs a different bat entirely.

Is a Kashmir willow bat good enough for leather ball cricket? +

It depends entirely on how it is made. A generic Kashmir willow bat pressed once or twice on a factory line will degrade quickly under leather ball impact and never develop much ping. The Player Edition is a different proposition: a hand-selected top-grade cleft, 8-stage hydraulic pressing and 40 to 43mm edges. Those three things are what separate a Kashmir willow bat that plays leather ball cricket properly from one that does not.

What is Player Grade Kashmir willow? +

It is the top grade of Kashmir willow cleft. Other sellers market the same grade under names like Signature Willow or Nurtured Willow and price it at Rs 12,000 and above. We call it Player Grade because that is what it is, and we sell it at Rs 5,999 because we make it ourselves in Meerut and sell direct. The grade means straight, tightly spaced grain, correct moisture content and high natural fibre density.

What player profile should I choose? +

Choose on how you bat. Virat Kohli duckbill for timing-based front-foot players. Rohit Sharma mid-to-low swell for openers and power hitters, which is our most chosen profile. MS Dhoni bottom-heavy for finishers and helicopter-shot players. Andre Russell full profile for T20 power hitters who want maximum mass. Sachin Tendulkar traditional full for all-rounders who want one bat for every condition. If you are unsure, message us on WhatsApp at +91 95481 82993 with your batting position and playing style.

How much knocking in does the Player Edition need? +

Four to six hours of mallet work before you use it in a match, plus one or two light coats of raw linseed oil. Because the bat is hard pressed through 8 hydraulic stages before it ships, it needs less knocking in than most Kashmir willow bats, but it still needs it. Never face a new leather ball with an unprepared bat. If you would rather we did it for you, add the preparation service at checkout for Rs 500 and we will oil, knock in and fit fibre tape before dispatch.

Can I customise the bat? +

Yes, and at no extra cost. We call you within 24 hours of your order to set the handle shape, the bat balance, the weight to suit your pickup, the player profile, the toe shape and your name laser engraved on the blade. Every one of those is free. The only paid extra is the optional preparation service at Rs 500, which covers oiling, knocking in and fibre tape.

How does the Rs 500 plus Cash on Delivery payment work in India? +

You pay Rs 500 online to confirm the order, the bat is dispatched from Meerut within 48 hours, and you pay the remaining Rs 5,499 in cash when it is delivered to your door. The Rs 500 confirms the order so we can start building it to your specification. Orders outside India are fully prepaid at checkout, as Cash on Delivery is not available internationally.

Does Ciel Sports ship the Player Edition internationally? +

Yes, to more than 50 countries including the UK, Australia, USA, UAE, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. International orders are prepaid at checkout with shipping calculated there, and typical delivery is 8 to 14 days. Shipping within India is free with Cash on Delivery available. For international or bulk orders, message us on WhatsApp at +91 95481 82993.

What sizes does the Player Edition come in? +

Nine sizes: Size 3, Size 4, Size 5, Size 6, Harrow, Short Handle, Long Blade, Long Handle and Long Blade Long Handle. That covers players from around age 6 through to tall adults. Choose by height rather than age, and if you are between two sizes take the smaller one, because a bat you can control beats a bat that reaches further.

What does the 12-month handle warranty cover? +

Handle failure under normal leather ball cricket use, for 12 months from delivery. It does not cover blade damage from mis-hits, damage from wet or waterlogged balls, use in tennis ball cricket, or damage traceable to an incomplete knocking-in process. If something goes wrong, message us on WhatsApp with photographs and we will assess it directly, with no retailer in between.

Should I buy the Player Edition or an English willow bat? +

Buy the Player Edition if you play regular leather ball cricket, want a bat that handles hard grounds and heavy use, and want the most bat you can get for under Rs 6,000. Buy English willow if you want more rebound and a softer pickup, and your budget stretches further: our English willow range starts at Rs 7,999 with the Surge. English willow rebounds better; Kashmir willow is denser and more forgiving. Both are genuine choices and we make both.

Where is the Player Edition made? +

In our own facility in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, by our own bat makers. We are a manufacturer rather than a reseller, which is why a bat with this cleft grade, these edges and this pressing costs Rs 5,999 rather than what the same specification reaches once it has passed through a distributor and a retailer.
